About Telehealth
Research studies show that therapy via video sessions is as effective as in-person sessions (click here for more detail) . It offers the added benefit of saving time and money in commuting costs to the office, and during uncertain situations such as illness or bad weather, keeps us all safer. We use a secure, HIPAA compliant platform to connect you directly to your therapist in the comfort of your home. All insurance plans we work with cover video sessions- please call our office and we will verify your benefits.
* Note: you must be located in Pennsylvania during the telehealth session unless you are working with one of our therapists who is licensed in other states. Otherwise, we are not permitted to conduct telehealth sessions when a client is present in another state even if that client is a PA resident.
Basic Instructions
To participate in Telehealth appointments from your home, you will need an internet connection and one of the following devices:
• Desktop computer with a webcam and speakers or laptop computer with built-in webcam and speakers
• Smartphone or Tablet (Note: To use a smartphone or tablet, you must first download Telehealth by SimplePractice - available for free for IOS or Android in the app store)
If you plan to use a desktop or laptop, there is nothing to download prior to your appointment. Here are the steps to join:
1. Approximately 10 minutes before your appointment, you should receive either an email or SMS text appointment reminder.
2. Click the unique link embedded in the reminder. Your video call screen will now open in new tab. Note: You may have to copy and paste the link into your web browser.
3. If your clinician already joined the call, you will see her face on the screen. If she has not, you will see yourself.
4. You will also see the Welcome prompt. Click Play test sound to test your camera and microphone settings.
5. When you are ready, click Join Video Call. This will take you straight into the video call.
If you plan to use a mobile device, here are the steps to join:
1. Download Telehealth by SimplePractice (for iOS or Android) in the app store.
2. Open the reminder on your mobile device, and click the unique link. This will open the Telehealth by SimplePractice app.
3. If your clinician already joined the call, you will see her face on the screen. If she has not, you will see yourself.
4. When you are ready, click Join Video Call. This will take you straight into the video call.
** Note: There may be a slight delay for your clinician to join the session if they are finishing with a previous session. Please be patient and they will join momentarily
